{"id":323677,"date":"2024-11-21T17:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-21T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wellingtonphoenix.com\/?p=323677"},"modified":"2024-11-22T00:23:20","modified_gmt":"2024-11-21T11:23:20","slug":"ninja-a-league-round-4-match-preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wellingtonphoenix.com\/news\/ninja-a-league-round-4-match-preview\/","title":{"rendered":"Ninja A-League Round 4 Match Preview\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Wellington Phoenix head coach Paul Temple is looking forward to the women\u2019s Unite Round fixture, their second consecutive match on the road.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Phoenix come up against Adelaide United at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in Sydney on Friday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the Nix have found it tough early and are still searching for their first points of the new campaign, Adelaide sit third after two wins from the first three rounds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like anything, we just need that first win,\u201d Temple told media on Thursday from the team\u2019s base in Sydney via Zoom.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe get that one to drop and the whole world feels a bit different. We\u2019re trying not to let it get too much on top of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think these early weeks of the season, all the teams are still really trying to find their feet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Press Conference - Paul Temple speaks on the upcoming Unite Round match against Adelaide United\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0ZdEWlZt92U?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/wellingtonphoenix.com\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe teams that have been able to keep the most consistency with their squad are benefiting from that a lot.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOther teams are still trying to piece together their new players. We\u2019re going through that process ourselves, trying to find our best balance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor us we want to get back to what we\u2019re all about, and this gives us that opportunity. We\u2019re looking forward to the game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adelaide have impressed onlookers so far, and Temple is no exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve started the season very well, had two good wins and been scoring well in all the games.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re a team that\u2019s trying to play out from the back, play passing football through the thirds. It should be entertaining and exciting.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the difficult start for Wellington, morale is still high in the team, who have been stationed in Sydney for the last week in preparation for this fixture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been good timing to have this trip together, because when you\u2019re in camp it just brings that bond.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe first two games we were disappointed because we felt we deserved something from the match, which I said after each game as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe missed that killer instinct in the box, that\u2019s something that we\u2019ve highlighted, reviewed, and been working on this week over in Sydney.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut the spirit within the team is actually still really good, they\u2019re getting on great, it\u2019s a good atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Press Conference - Mackenzie Barry talks to the media pre Round-4\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fbzXhTXXoNE?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/wellingtonphoenix.com\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been doing workshops every night, team meetings during the day and training in the morning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been busy for everyone but we\u2019re getting through a lot of content and working through what we need to improve on.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the Nix have lost Rebecca Lake to season-ending surgery and Imane Chebel has returned home, there is also good news on the personnel front.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Captain Annalie Longo is in the squad for Friday after scans cleared her of a fracture or concussion after a heavy collision against the Jets, although she may have to wear a protective mask.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe is a chance of featuring. It can potentially help, but we don\u2019t want it to be more uncomfortable for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cConsidering where we were at when she came off the pitch, and the initial reactions to the injury, to get to this point a few days later is pretty incredible.
